Holiday Reads: The Other Side, a Memoir by Hillary Rohde

Life so far had just led from one thing to another in a haphazard sort of way.'

Hillary Rohde has given us a most inspiring and enjoyable account of her life’s journey. From the very first page the reader will be captivated by her energy as she leaves South Africa to study in London, dives comfortable into the London 60’s scene, finds love and travels spontaneously to places in a way that will leave you envious. She shares her broken heart with the reader and how she discovers her passion for spinning which drives her career into a successful direction, how she finds love again and embarks on a journey which brings her back to South Africa and sharing her memoir with us.

The memoir is a compilation of stories from Rohde’s life that follow a chronological order, where she clearly illustrates how each event leads to the next or as she eloquently states, ‘Life so far had just led from one thing to another in a haphazard sort of way.’

Hillary Rohde writes with humour, clarity and honesty, allowing the reader to enter her thoughts and accompany her along her incredible journey.

For those who have a sense of wanderlust and are looking for an armchair adventure, The Other Side is a must read.

With grace, this is a memoir of Rohde’s life thus far and hopefully we will be privileged to be able to read yet more great tales from this remarkable woman who, through a curiosity for life, has allowed herself to be open to life experiences, leading her to extraordinary tales.

It’ll be important to have some continuity in my new life. I’ve no idea where it will go, but writing has been my on-going fantasy for the longest time. Stories are accumulating in my head.’

So we enthusiastically wait for Hillary Rohde’s next account of inspiring tales to be taken on a journey of inspiration and admiration.
